Kakapo

The Appearance

The kakapo is a flightless, large parrot. It has green and dark brown feathers all over its body. This helps the Kakapo camouflage in the forest, protecting it from predators. They have grey feet and a grey beak. The kakapo is a nocturnal bird which means they sleep during the day, and they hunt at night. The kakapo is one of the heaviest parrots in the world. It weighs 2-4 kgs.

Predators

They are endangered and there are only 154 left in New Zealand. The kakapo is almost extinct. Its predators are cats, stoats, dogs and rats. The rats eat the Kakapo’s eggs. The kakapos were put onto an island with no predators. This keeps them safe and allows them to breed, so we can have more kakapo.

It is important to protect the Kakapo for future generations to see.

Why do you need to recycle

Did you know that there is rubbish around new zealand

In the landfills because people are chucking rubbish away.

Rubbish is floating in the wind and is killing kiwi and turtles on the beach. Some people waste paper, if you waste Paper it means you are wasting trees. They

have to cut the wood from the trees and that's wasting the trees. Then if we have no trees we might not have any oxygen and you might die and plastic. Bangladesh banned their people from using plastic bags because there are plastic bags floating around in the road.

How to recycle

If you don't know how to recycle when  you see rubbish on the floor pick it up and throw it in the rubbish.And pick the plastic bags and recycle them.  You can re use it and do not throw away your rubbish.

On monday miss spies told us to make a boat challenge then we got to get in two groups. Then miss gave us the foil and the cardboard and the sizzers so we can cut the foil and the cardboard. First we made the boat then . We Then we cut the foal foil to put it in the boat And under the boat and on top of the boat but. Our boat made out of cardboard and maile said to Me we should make it waterproof so we put fole. Under the boat to make it boat waterproof Then miss said to us stop making our boat. Then miss said that we are doing the boat challenge now then Curtis and Shacon won the boat challenge Because there boat is a square boat and strong. That why there one won and me and Maile lost The boat challenge because our one was not strong Then the boat challenge was over then me and . Malie came last and curtis shacon won the boat challenge Because they got 6.00 grams and 21 seconds and we got. 1.00 grams and 15 seconds then every body bate us and We lost the boat challenge that why we lost because We did not have much fole and we had little of fole. And they had lot of foil on there boat that why they won
